Height approx. 8inch. Width from the wall to outer edge approx. 5.5 inch.

Just opened the box, their is a white and black wire? What goes where?

Doesn't make any difference. To keep it simple, connect black to neutral (blue) and white to live (brown). If the light has a green and yellow wire this is connected to earth. (yellow and green)
