BlackBuck 8M - 8 Amps compact laser/LED driver (3rd revision) This driver is designed for use in portable devices powered by li-ion or li-po batteries. Due to its high efficiency, it has a low heat dissipation and does not require an additional heat sink at the top - you need only one heat sink on the bottom side. With an output current of up to 3A, this driver can operate without a heat sink. For best performance and to reduce battery load, I recommend using 3 cells in case the output current is more than 5 amps. To protect your diode from overheating, you can use the built-in overheat protection - an external 10K ntc sensor is included in the kit. This driver also works without a connected ntc sensor, and the sensor input can be used as a interlock input. For normal operation, it is necessary that some signal be applied to the modulation input. If you are not going to use a modulation source (for example, to adjust the power with an external resistor) - just close the MOD input and 5V reference output pads. 5V reference output is a source of stabilized voltage and can be used for multiple drivers simultaneously. Several modulation inputs can be combined into a single circuit. Although the driver does not have a high rise/fall time, you can use up to 100kHz PWM signal as the modulation signal - In this case, the output current will have an averaged value. Drivers are delivered tested and pre-configured - 1600mA output current at 5V modulation signal by default. This can be changed according to your request.
